The Cat's Out of the Bag
To those of you that follow this blog and are wondering what happened to the past 2 months and why we hadn't posted anything... well, I think most of you already knew it, but in case you didn't, we're back in the United States.
It all started around the second week of December. We had just finished the Glacier Walk and left El Calafate for Chile. We planned on hitting Torres del Paine and we were still southbound from there. We were looking at calendars and realized we had a little more than two weeks to get from where we were to the farm we had committed to working on for the moths of January and February. We were also looking at our dwindling bank accounts and flights home for March or April. With the money we had left, the money we would have spent staying another 3 months and the price of tickets home, it would have left us right at flat broke had we decided to stay until March or April. Coupled with the facts that we hadn't spent longer than a week in one spot since September and we were burnt-out on the continuous on-the-go lifestyle, we decide to look at flights sooner rather than later.
The novel-idea that we might actually be able to spend the holidays with our friends and family started as a perfect little snow flake, and transformed into the perfect Mid-West winter. The next thing we knew, we were on a plane from El Calafate to Buenos Aires. After a few days spent with Janet in Buenos Aires it was back to the sky. 28 hours, 3 different flight and 1 argument about bringing wine-bottles on planes (that was lost in translation somewhere in the weary Mexico City International Airport,) we found ourselves coming from the longest day of the year in Argentina to the shortest day in San Francisco.
After our fill of eggnog and whiskey with our families in Fairfield, Ca., Yosemite NP, & Ann Arbor, MI., we packed up Sarah's good-ol' civic to the brim and moved our travel-weary eyes across the country. Cleveland, O-H-I-O. Why Cleveland, most of you have asked... why not? Besides, it's almost like being in a foreign country... the journey continues, except now we have a house to unpack our backpacks in, a bed to sleep in, and space to fill with... friends and family? anyone headed east anytime soon?
we love and miss all of you,
P.S. The blog will continue, but we may have to change the name...errrr???
